1-1/2" Flange (Solid Style), FPT PVC Schedule 80 (852-005)

The 852-005 is a Schedule 80 PVC solid style flange in 1-1/2" with a female pipe thread (FPT) connection. Unlike the loose ring (Van Stone) flange designs in the 854 and 856 series, the solid flange is a single-piece fitting — the flange face and the pipe connection are permanently integrated into one molded body with no separate backing ring. The bolt holes are fixed in position, so pipe orientation must be planned during installation to align the bolt circle with the mating flange.

The female NPT-threaded connection on the back of the flange accepts a male-threaded pipe or fitting end, making this flange the correct choice when transitioning from a threaded PVC system to a flanged connection, or when a removable, non-cemented pipe-side joint is preferred. The threaded connection offers the advantage of disassembly on the pipe side without cutting pipe, useful in maintenance-intensive or frequently serviced installations.

The flat flange face conforms to ANSI/ASME B16.5 Class 150 bolt circle dimensions, ensuring compatibility with standard metallic and plastic mating flanges across pumps, valves, tanks, and equipment connections. Gray Schedule 80 PVC construction delivers greater wall thickness and higher pressure ratings than Schedule 40, along with excellent resistance to corrosion, acids, bases, and a broad range of industrial and chemical media.

When assembling the threaded connection, apply PTFE tape or a compatible thread sealant to the male threads before engagement. Hand-tighten plus one to two turns is typically sufficient — avoid over-torquing NPT connections into PVC female threads to prevent cracking the fitting body. At the flange joint, use a full-face EPDM or PTFE gasket and torque bolts evenly in a cross pattern to ensure uniform seating.
