1-1/4" Flange (Loose Ring), Slip PVC Schedule 80 (854-012)

The 854-012 is a Schedule 80 PVC loose ring flange — also known as a Van Stone flange — in 1-1/4" with a slip (socket) end connection. Like all loose ring flange designs, this fitting consists of two components: a PVC stub flange with a slip socket that accepts Schedule 80 PVC pipe via solvent cement, and a free-rotating Schedule 80 PVC backing ring that turns 360° around the stub neck. The rotating ring allows bolt holes to be aligned with any mating flange orientation without rotating the pipe, making installation significantly easier in fixed-pipe or confined configurations.

The distinction from the 856-012 spigot version is the connection end: the 854-012 accepts pipe into its socket, making it the correct choice when connecting directly to cut pipe ends. The spigot version inserts into a fitting socket; this slip version receives pipe into its own socket. Selecting the right configuration for the installation is important — both are 1-1/4" and otherwise identical in flange geometry.

The flat-faced flange conforms to ANSI/ASME B16.5 Class 150 bolt circle dimensions, ensuring compatibility with standard metallic and plastic mating flanges across pumps, valves, tanks, and equipment connections. Gray Schedule 80 PVC construction delivers higher pressure performance and greater wall thickness than Schedule 40, along with excellent resistance to corrosion, acids, bases, and a broad range of industrial chemicals.

When installing, prime and cement the slip socket to Schedule 80 PVC pipe using a solvent cement rated for Schedule 80 fittings. Use a full-face EPDM or PTFE gasket at the flange joint, and torque flange bolts evenly in a cross pattern to avoid distortion of the flat flange face.
