1/2" Flange (Solid Style), Slip PVC Schedule 80 (851-005)
The 851-005 is a Schedule 80 PVC solid style flange with a 1/2-inch slip (socket) connection. The bolt ring is fixed and integral to the flange body — a one-piece construction that distinguishes the 851 series from the loose ring designs of the 854 and 856 series, where the bolt ring rotates freely around a separate flange stub. The socket end solvent cements directly onto the outside diameter of standard 1/2" Schedule 40 or Schedule 80 PVC pipe, creating a compact, permanent, pressure-rated flanged termination that mates to any standard 150 lb ANSI flat-face flanged valve, pump port, instrument connection, or mating PVC flange.
At 1/2", the solid style design's compact one-piece profile is particularly well suited to the confined spaces and tight equipment layouts where small-bore flanged connections most often appear — instrument tie-ins, chemical dosing ports, sample valve connections, and small-bore equipment flanges where a low-profile, rigid flanged termination is preferable to a two-piece loose ring assembly. Because the bolt ring is fixed, bolt hole alignment must be established during initial installation layout before the pipe is cemented — the flange body cannot be rotated to adjust bolt pattern after the socket joint is made. For installations where post-cement bolt hole alignment flexibility is needed, the 854-005 (loose ring/slip) is the appropriate alternative at the same size and connection type.
As with all PVC flat-face flanges, assemble with a full-face rubber gasket and stainless steel or non-metallic bolts, and torque in a cross pattern to the manufacturer's recommended specification. Never mate a raised-face steel flange directly against a PVC flat face — uneven clamping load from a raised face is a leading cause of PVC flange face cracking in the field. Apply a medium-bodied PVC primer and standard-bodied PVC cement per ASTM D2564 to both the pipe OD and socket interior before installation.

Industries & Applications:
- Industrial Process Piping — Provides a permanent compact flanged termination on 1/2" Schedule 80 PVC process lines at instrumentation ports, chemical injection assemblies, and small-bore equipment connections in corrosion-resistant industrial fluid handling systems where a fixed one-piece flange profile is preferred.
- Chemical Processing & Water Treatment — Used at chemical dosing pump flanges, sample valve connections, and small-bore treatment equipment inlets where a solid-style PVC flanged termination delivers a rigid, low-profile assembly in confined equipment spaces within corrosion-resistant Schedule 80 systems.
- Municipal & Commercial Plumbing — Provides a fixed flanged termination on 1/2" Schedule 80 service lines at meters, small-bore instrumentation connections, and equipment ports in commercial and institutional plumbing systems where permanent flanged joints are specified and bolt hole alignment is established during initial layout.
- Irrigation & Agricultural Systems — Installed at small-bore pump connections, filter instrumentation flanges, and chemical injection ports on Schedule 80 PVC systems where a solid one-piece flange body provides a clean, rigid equipment interface and the pipeline layout is fixed prior to cementing.
- Pool & Spa Equipment Rooms — Transitions 1/2" Schedule 80 chemical feed or instrumentation piping to flanged connections at dosing equipment ports, pH and ORP sensor assemblies, and small-bore treatment system components in permanent equipment room installations where a compact flange profile is preferred.
- Laboratory & Semiconductor Facilities — Provides a permanent flanged termination in Schedule 80 PVC ultrapure water, acid waste, or reagent distribution lines at instrument connections, flow cell flanges, and analytical equipment ports where the fixed one-piece design delivers a stable, low-profile flanged joint in fixed-layout systems.
