1" Flange (Solid Style), Slip PVC Schedule 80 (851-010)

The 851-010 is a 1" PVC Schedule 80 solid style flange with a solvent-weld slip end, designed to create a bolted flanged connection point within a PVC piping system. Flanges serve a purpose no other fitting type can replicate: they allow a piping system to be assembled, disassembled, and reassembled at defined break points — critical wherever pumps, valves, strainers, meters, or other inline equipment must be periodically removed for service, inspection, or replacement.

The solid style designation means the flange face, hub, and bolt holes are all molded as a single integral piece. Unlike a Van Stone (lap joint) flange, which uses a separate rotating ring around a stub end to allow bolt hole alignment after the pipe is cemented, a solid flange requires the installer to orient the bolt holes correctly during the solvent cement process before the joint sets. This fixed construction results in a more rigid, lower-profile assembly and is the preferred choice when flange position and bolt hole alignment can be controlled during installation.

The slip end accepts standard 1" IPS pipe for solvent cement installation using PVC primer and cement. Once cured, the hub-to-pipe joint is permanent. The flange face itself mates to any ANSI Class 150 flat-face or full-face gasket and corresponding 4-bolt flange — whether PVC, cast iron, ductile iron, stainless, or other materials following the same drilling standard.

Manufactured from rigid PVC Type I, Grade I (Cell Classification 12454) to ASTM D2467, the 851-010 delivers the corrosion resistance PVC is known for across acids, bases, salts, and a broad range of industrial chemicals. NSF/ANSI 61 certification makes it suitable for potable water service.

Note: The working pressure at the bolted flange connection is governed by the ANSI 150 lb flange rating (150 PSI), not the Schedule 80 pipe wall pressure rating. System designers should account for this when specifying flanged connections in higher-pressure circuits.
