Riser Extender, MPT x FPT PVC Schedule 40 3/4" (434-007)

This 3/4" Schedule 40 PVC Riser Extender (MPT x FPT) provides a threaded straight-through body for extending the effective height or reach of a 3/4" threaded sprinkler riser, valve outlet, or threaded pipe stub — threading directly onto the existing male-threaded riser or outlet at the bottom and accepting a male-threaded sprinkler head, riser pipe, nipple, or fitting component at the top. Constructed in white Schedule 40 PVC, it is the standard fitting for bringing a 3/4" threaded riser assembly to the correct above-grade or above-grade-cover height without cutting, replacing, or rethreading the existing riser pipe.

The 3/4" MPT (male plain thread) end threads directly into any standard 3/4" FPT or FIP female-threaded outlet — a valve body FPT port, tee branch FPT connection, cross port FPT outlet, or manifold male-threaded stub — and is made up with thread sealant or PTFE tape to form a pressure-tight mechanical connection at the base. The 3/4" FPT (female pipe thread) upper end accepts any standard 3/4" male NPT-threaded pipe end, riser nipple, sprinkler head male inlet, or fitting outlet for a pressure-tight mechanical connection at the top, also made up with thread sealant or PTFE tape. This MPT x FPT straight-through configuration is the defining feature of the riser extender — unlike a standard FPT x FPT coupling (which joins two male ends at the same level), the riser extender provides a male-threaded lower inlet for direct engagement at an existing female-threaded port without requiring a separate nipple below, producing the most compact riser extension possible at any 3/4" female-threaded outlet location. Install using a quality pipe thread sealant or PTFE tape on both the MPT lower end threads and the male NPT threads of the mating upper component before engagement at each end. Avoid over-torquing at either end — PVC threads require hand-tight plus one to two turns; excessive force can crack the fitting body. Confirm the extended riser assembly height above grade or above valve box cover before finalizing installation — the threaded construction allows the riser extender to be removed and replaced with a different length if height adjustment is needed after initial installation.
