Large-Diameter Solvent Cement Notice — 4" Socket End: At 4", use a heavy-bodied PVC solvent cement formulated for large-diameter Schedule 40 applications. Apply a full coat of purple primer to both the pipe end and socket interior, then apply cement to both mating surfaces (wet-on-wet) without allowing the first coat to dry before joining. Insert the pipe with a slight twist and hold firmly for 30 seconds. Allow adequate cure time before pressurizing the joint, following the cement manufacturer's temperature and humidity guidelines.

Apply PTFE tape or compatible thread sealant to all male threads before engaging the FPT end. Do not over-torque — engage hand-tight and tighten an additional one to two turns with a strap wrench. Apply published pressure derating factors for service temperatures above 73°F.
