Union (O-Ring Type), Slip x Slip PVC Schedule 40 3/4" (457-007)
This 3/4" Schedule 40 PVC Union (O-Ring Type, Slip x Slip) provides a solvent-cement PVC piping system with a serviceable, pressure-rated disconnect point that can be broken and remade without cutting pipe or disturbing adjacent fittings. Constructed in white Schedule 40 PVC with an EPDM or Buna-N O-ring seal, it is an essential component anywhere a pump, filter, valve, or equipment section must be periodically removed, inspected, or replaced without taking apart the surrounding pipe run.
The union consists of three parts: two solvent-cement socket body halves that are permanently bonded to opposing pipe ends, and a threaded union nut that draws the two halves together and compresses the O-ring to create a leak-free pressure seal at the joint face. Unlike solvent-cement-only joints, the O-ring union connection can be loosened, separated, and re-engaged repeatedly — making it the standard choice for isolation points at pumps, filters, UV sterilizers, chemical feeders, and other inline equipment throughout commercial and residential PVC systems. Both slip sockets accept 3/4" PVC pipe for permanent solvent-cement bonding on each side of the union body.
Rated to 480 psi at 73°F, this union delivers reliable pressure performance across the full range of standard commercial and light industrial water distribution service. Its PVC and O-ring construction provides excellent resistance to corrosion, scale, chlorinated water, and a broad range of chemical exposures. NSF/ANSI 61 listing confirms suitability for potable water contact, including use in drinking water distribution and treatment systems.
To assemble: slide the union nut onto the pipe before cementing — this step cannot be completed after the socket joints are bonded. Solvent-cement each body half to its respective pipe end per ASTM D2564 procedures and allow adequate cure time. Seat the O-ring into the body groove, bring the two halves together, and hand-tighten the union nut — do not use tools to over-tighten, as the O-ring provides the seal and excessive torque on the nut is unnecessary and may damage the threads. Derate pressure ratings for elevated temperatures per published derating curves.

Industries & Applications:
- Commercial Plumbing — Installed at pump inlets and outlets, pressure tanks, water softeners, and inline water treatment equipment to allow removal and service without cutting into the surrounding 3/4" PVC pipe run
- Industrial Process Piping — Provides serviceable disconnect points at chemical metering pumps, inline filters, flow meters, and instrumentation sections in water treatment, chemical processing, and manufacturing facilities
- Irrigation & Water Distribution — Used at pump stations, filter housings, backflow preventers, and zone control valve assemblies in agricultural and municipal irrigation systems where seasonal or periodic equipment removal is required
- Water Treatment & Aquaculture — Installed at UV sterilizers, media filters, biological filter housings, and recirculating pump connections in aquaculture and water treatment systems where routine maintenance access is essential and pipe cutting is impractical
- Chemical Handling — Provides a corrosion-resistant, re-engageable disconnect in systems conveying acids, caustics, fertilizer solutions, and other fluids incompatible with metal union fittings at 3/4" line sizes
- HVAC & Mechanical Systems — Used at inline components on chilled water loops, cooling tower pump connections, and chemically treated water systems where equipment isolation and serviceability are required at 3/4" service connections
