The 1-1/4" socket end accepts plain-end pipe for solvent welding on the inlet side, while the 1" socket end does the same on the outlet — delivering both a 90° direction change and a one-step size reduction in a single fitting, without requiring a standard elbow followed by a separate reducer or bushing downstream.

The combination of direction change and size reduction in a single body is the defining value of this fitting.
