The 806-291 is a 2-1/2" x 1-1/2" Schedule 80 PVC 90° Reducing Elbow with Slip x Slip connections. This fitting combines two functions in a single body — redirecting flow at a true right angle while simultaneously stepping the line down from a 2-1/2" pipe to a 1-1/2" pipe. Consolidating the direction change and size reduction into one fitting eliminates the need for a separate standard elbow and reducer in the same run, reducing joint count, assembly length, and potential leak points in the system.

Both ends accept solvent cement for a permanent, pressure-rated bond to standard Schedule 80 PVC pipe. The 2-1/2" socket receives the incoming pipe on the larger side of the reduction, and the 1-1/2" socket continues the line at the reduced diameter through the 90° turn. This configuration is particularly useful at equipment connection points and header-to-branch transitions where the incoming supply line is significantly larger than the downstream circuit it feeds, and the two functions of turning and reducing occur at the same physical point in the system.

The 2-1/2" to 1-1/2" size step is a full two-increment reduction — more aggressive than the single-step 2-1/2" x 2" version (806-292) — and is most commonly encountered where a mid-size supply header transitions to a smaller individual branch, equipment inlet, or sub-circuit. Common applications include pump discharge assemblies where the pump outlet feeds a smaller-diameter distribution line, chemical dosing manifolds where a 2-1/2" header branches to 1-1/2" individual feed lines, and irrigation systems where a mid-size supply main turns and reduces to a zone lateral in a single fitting.

Manufactured to Schedule 80 wall thickness standards, the 806-291 is rated for higher working pressures than Schedule 40 equivalents at the same sizes — an important consideration in systems handling chemical solutions, recirculated process water, or pressurized fluids where Schedule 40 would be underspecified. The dark gray rigid PVC compound provides excellent resistance to a broad range of acids, bases, and industrial chemicals throughout the service life of the assembly.

Specifications:

Specification Detail
Part Number 806-291
Material PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride)
Schedule Schedule 80
Fitting Type 90° Reducing Elbow
Inlet Size 2-1/2"
Outlet Size 1-1/2"
Connection Type Slip x Slip (Socket)

⚠️ Note: In a reducing fitting, the smaller end governs the pressure rating. The 806 series spans multiple inlet and outlet size combinations with closely adjacent part numbers — confirm 806-291 (2-1/2" x 1-1/2") versus 806-292 (2-1/2" x 2") carefully before ordering. Always consult manufacturer derating tables for elevated-temperature service.

Industries & Applications:

  • Chemical Processing — Combines direction change and size reduction at a single point on chemical feed and distribution lines, reducing joint count and minimizing potential leak points in corrosive-service piping assemblies
  • Water & Wastewater Treatment — Used at header-to-branch transitions on treatment plant piping where a 2-1/2" supply line turns and reduces to a 1-1/2" sub-circuit or equipment feed in a single fitting, keeping the assembly compact within defined equipment footprints
  • Industrial Process Piping — Reduces fitting and spool piece count on process skids and modular assemblies where a direction change and size reduction occur at the same point, simplifying the piping layout and reducing installed cost
  • Pump Station & Equipment Connections — Applied at pump discharge or suction connections where the pump port is 2-1/2" and the connected pipe run is 1-1/2", with a simultaneous 90° direction change required at the connection point
  • Irrigation & Agricultural Systems — Transitions a 2-1/2" supply main to a 1-1/2" zone lateral at a directional change point, combining two fitting functions in one body to simplify manifold assemblies and reduce valve box clutter
  • Commercial Mechanical Systems — Used in fluid handling and HVAC-adjacent piping systems where corrosion-resistant PVC is specified and combined direction change with size reduction simplifies routing within constrained mechanical room or equipment pad layouts
