Blind Flange, PVC Schedule 80 3/4" (853-007)

The 853-007 is a 3/4" PVC Schedule 80 blind flange — a solid, flat flange with no center bore, designed to bolt onto a mating flanged fitting or pipe end and close it completely. Where a standard flange creates a demountable connection between two sections of piping or equipment, a blind flange terminates a flanged opening entirely, sealing it against pressure with a gasketed, bolted face-to-face joint that can be unbolted and removed when the opening needs to be accessed or brought into service.

The blind flange is one of the most practical and widely used end-of-line fittings in flanged piping systems. It provides a pressure-rated, fully removable closure at any flanged termination point — whether that is a capped branch on a distribution header, the end of a pipe run that will be extended in a future phase of construction, an inspection or cleanout port that requires periodic access, or a pressure test point that needs to be blanked off after testing is complete. The bolted connection means the blind flange can be removed and reinstalled repeatedly without damaging the mating flange face, which is a meaningful advantage over permanent closures such as solvent-welded caps in systems where future access to the opening is anticipated.

At 3/4", the 853-007 is compact enough to appear in instrumentation and sampling manifolds, small-bore chemical injection headers, and control panel piping assemblies where individual ports on a flanged manifold need to be blanked off until they are brought into service. The small diameter also makes this blind flange a practical choice for pressure testing — bolting a blind flange onto a flanged test port, pressurizing the system, and then removing the flange when testing is complete is a cleaner and more repeatable procedure than installing and removing a threaded cap at a test point.

Built to Schedule 80 standards from rigid PVC compound, the 853-007 carries the elevated pressure ratings required for demanding industrial and commercial service. The flange face mates against a standard ANSI 150 lb. bolt pattern and is sealed with a full-face gasket compressed by the flange bolts. Like all Schedule 80 PVC fittings, it is fully resistant to corrosion, chemical attack, and biological fouling — with none of the rust, galvanic corrosion, or weight concerns that accompany metal blind flanges of equivalent pressure rating.
