The MPT end threads directly into any matching 2-1/2" FPT fitting or threaded port, while the FPT end accepts a 2" MPT nipple, valve, or fitting — making this a straightforward, no-solder solution for threaded size transitions in Schedule 80 systems.

The flush bushing profile keeps the overall footprint minimal, sitting flush within the receiving socket rather than protruding like a hex bushing. This makes the 839-292 a preferred choice in tight installations where a hex body would create clearance issues or an unclean inline appearance.
