Within the 838-33x sub-series, the 838-335 sits at the smaller end of the outlet-size range alongside the 838-334 (3/4" FPT outlet), and shares a similar application profile — both are most commonly used for branch taps, instrument connections, and secondary ports where flow volume at the threaded outlet is modest relative to the 3" main line capacity. The one-size step from 3/4" to 1" meaningfully broadens the range of compatible valves, instruments, and fittings that can thread directly into the outlet, however. A 1" FPT port accepts a wider selection of ball valves, gate valves, check valves, pressure gauges, chemical injectors, and inline instruments than a 3/4" port — making the 838-335 the more versatile choice in applications where the threaded connection must accommodate a range of 1" NPT-threaded components over the system's service life.
