The 447-060 is a 6" PVC Schedule 40 slip cap designed to permanently close off the end of a 6" PVC pipe or the open port of a 6" socket fitting using solvent cement welding per ASTM D2564. The single slip (socket) inlet accepts a standard 6" PVC pipe end, producing a permanent, pressure-rated termination with a fully closed face — sealing the pipeline end against pressure, flow, and environmental ingress with no threaded connections, mechanical fasteners, or gaskets required.

Manufactured from rigid PVC compound conforming to ASTM D1784 cell classification requirements, this cap delivers the corrosion resistance, chemical compatibility, and long service life associated with Schedule 40 PVC across a wide range of commercial, industrial, and municipal piping applications. The Schedule 40 wall thickness provides reliable pressure-rated performance for both pressurized systems and gravity-flow installations, and the all-PVC construction resists corrosion, biological fouling, and a broad range of chemical media throughout its service life.

At the 6" size, the slip cap serves several well-defined roles in large-diameter PVC piping systems. In new construction and phased installations, it provides a pressure-rated permanent or temporary end termination on 6" pipe runs that will be extended in a future phase — capping the open end to allow the completed portion of the system to be pressurized, tested, and placed in service before the pipeline extension is constructed. In permanent installations, it seals unused ports on 6" tees, crosses, and manifold fittings where a branch connection was roughed in during construction but will not be activated in the current phase of the project. During hydrostatic pressure testing, a solvent-welded slip cap provides a reliable, pressure-rated termination at pipe ends and fitting ports without requiring a bolted blind flange or threaded plug assembly. The all-slip solvent weld construction makes the 447-060 a permanent installation — unlike a threaded plug or bolted blind flange, a solvent-welded cap cannot be removed without cutting the pipe. Buyers who require a removable termination at a 6" pipe end should consider a threaded plug in conjunction with a female adapter, or a bolted blind flange assembly, rather than a solvent-weld cap.

  • Municipal Water & Wastewater — Sealing 6" pipe ends and unused fitting ports at pump stations, treatment facility distribution headers, and water main assemblies during construction phasing, hydrostatic pressure testing, and permanent branch port closure
  • Industrial Process Piping — Permanent end terminations on 6" chemical distribution, cooling water, and process fluid pipe runs and manifold ports where a solvent-welded cap provides a corrosion-resistant, pressure-rated closure without metal components
  • Fire Suppression — Capping unused 6" riser ports, cross-main fitting outlets, and temporary system terminations during installation phasing and hydrostatic pressure testing in large fire suppression systems
  • Commercial Plumbing — Sealing unused 6" tee and cross branch ports in mechanical room distribution manifolds where future branch connections have been roughed in but are not activated in the current construction phase
  • Aquaculture & Water Treatment — Permanently closing unused 6" manifold ports and pipe end terminations in large recirculating aquaculture and water treatment systems where future expansion connections have been pre-positioned during initial construction
