This 1-1/4" Schedule 40 PVC Threaded Coupling (FPT x FPT) provides a direct inline connection between two 1-1/4" male NPT-threaded pipe ends, nipples, or fitting outlets in commercial and light industrial piping systems. Constructed in white Schedule 40 PVC, it offers the corrosion resistance and chemical compatibility required across a wide range of fluid handling applications where two male-threaded components must be joined inline without solvent-cement joints or additional transition hardware.

Both female pipe thread (FPT) ends — also referred to in the field as FIPT (Female Iron Pipe Thread) — are cut to NPT tapered thread standards, accepting any standard 1-1/4" male NPT pipe end or nipple on each side to form a pressure-tight mechanical joint when made up with thread sealant or PTFE tape. The FPT x FPT coupling is the standard threaded approach for extending a pipe run by joining two nipples end-to-end, reconnecting a threaded line after a cut or repair, or bridging two threaded system components at an inline junction without introducing a solvent-cement joint into an all-threaded assembly. At 1-1/4", this coupling is commonly specified in irrigation mainline assemblies, commercial plumbing branch supply connections, pump station piping, and light industrial process water systems where this intermediate pipe diameter is used for moderate-flow threaded distribution runs.

Rated to approximately 370 psi at 73°F, this coupling is suited for standard commercial and light industrial water distribution and irrigation service within its pressure class. Its PVC composition provides excellent resistance to corrosion, scale, chlorinated water, and a broad range of chemical exposures, making it a reliable long-term alternative to metal couplings in moisture-prone or chemically active environments. NSF/ANSI 61 listing confirms suitability for potable water contact, including use in drinking water distribution and treatment systems.

Install using a quality pipe thread sealant or PTFE tape on all male NPT threads before engagement. Avoid over-torquing — PVC threads require hand-tight plus one to two turns; excessive force can crack the fitting or distort thread engagement. If joining two fixed pipe ends where future disassembly may be required, consider whether a union fitting is a more appropriate solution — a fully made-up threaded coupling is not removable without cutting or unthreading the surrounding assembly. Derate pressure ratings for elevated temperatures per published derating curves.

Industries & Applications:

  • Irrigation & Water Distribution — Joins two 1-1/4" male NPT nipples, pipe ends, or fitting outlets inline at valve station assemblies, pump discharge connections, filter housing interfaces, and zone header transitions in agricultural and municipal irrigation systems where 1-1/4" threaded PVC construction is used for moderate-flow mainline and branch supply runs
  • Commercial Plumbing — Extends or repairs 1-1/4" male-threaded PVC pipe runs at inline junction points in commercial building water distribution systems, connecting nipples end-to-end or bridging threaded components in branch supply assemblies where solvent-cement joints are absent or not preferred at the connection location
  • Industrial Process Piping — Joins two male-threaded pipe ends or nipples inline in light-duty process water distribution assemblies, cooling water lines, and equipment feed connections in manufacturing and water treatment facilities where 1-1/4" all-threaded Schedule 40 PVC construction is specified
  • Chemical Handling — Provides a corrosion-resistant inline threaded joint in systems conveying acids, caustics, fertilizer solutions, and other fluids incompatible with metal fittings, particularly in all-threaded chemical feed manifolds and distribution lines at 1-1/4" line sizes where metal couplings would degrade or contaminate the system fluid
  • Water Treatment & Aquaculture — Used in threaded filter housing connections, pump discharge assemblies, chemical dosing line extensions, and service line repairs in recirculating and treatment systems where NSF/ANSI 61 compliance and chemical resistance are required at 1-1/4" threaded joints
  • HVAC & Mechanical Systems — Joins 1-1/4" male-threaded pipe ends and nipples inline on cooling tower supply connections, chilled water distribution branch assemblies, and chemically treated water system service lines within the Schedule 40 pressure rating class
