The 830-015 is a 1-1/2" PVC Schedule 80 coupling in an FPT x FPT (Female Pipe Thread x Female Pipe Thread) configuration, providing a straight inline connection between two 1-1/2" MPT-terminated pipes, nipples, or fittings. Both ends accept standard 1-1/2" male pipe threads, making this coupling a straightforward solution for joining threaded Schedule 80 PVC runs, extending a threaded line with a nipple, or connecting threaded equipment ports and valve assemblies in a continuous inline configuration.

As a fully threaded coupling, the 830-015 is particularly useful in systems where solvent cement is impractical — confined spaces, field repairs, systems requiring periodic disassembly, or installations connecting to threaded equipment ports that cannot be solvent-welded. The all-threaded construction also allows the coupling to serve as a junction between two independently assembled threaded sub-assemblies, with the coupling tightened last to close the connection.

Schedule 80's thicker wall construction provides higher pressure ratings and greater resistance to mechanical stress and chemical exposure than Schedule 40, making the 830-015 appropriate for industrial process lines, chemical distribution systems, and other demanding environments where the heavier wall is warranted. The gray color is the standard Schedule 80 identifier, providing clear visual differentiation from white Schedule 40 components in mixed systems.

Thread sealing follows standard practice for PVC threaded fittings: apply PTFE thread tape or a compatible PVC-rated thread sealant to the male threads of both mating fittings before assembly. Avoid petroleum-based pipe dopes, which can degrade PVC over time. Thread each mating fitting by hand first to confirm engagement, then snug with a strap wrench. Do not over-tighten — excessive torque on PVC female threads risks cracking the coupling body, particularly at larger diameters.

Industries & Applications:

The 830-015 threaded coupling is used across any Schedule 80 system requiring a straight inline threaded connection in a 1-1/2" line:

  • Industrial Processing — Inline threaded connections in process piping headers, equipment feed lines, and utility supply runs where Schedule 80 pressure ratings and chemical resistance are required and solvent cement is impractical
  • Chemical Handling — Joining threaded sections of acid, alkali, and reagent distribution lines, including connections to threaded pump ports, valve bodies, and chemical feed equipment where disassembly may be required over time
  • Water & Wastewater Treatment — Inline connections in treatment plant piping at pump stations, filter assemblies, and distribution headers where threaded Schedule 80 construction is specified for pressure or chemical compatibility reasons
  • Irrigation & Agriculture — Connecting threaded mainline sections, extending runs with nipples, and joining threaded valve or filter assemblies in pressurized agricultural and landscape irrigation systems
  • Commercial & Industrial Plumbing — Inline threaded couplings in cold water supply, equipment feed lines, and mechanical room piping where Schedule 80 construction is specified or preferred for pressure service
  • Aquaculture & Aquatics — Straight inline connections in recirculating system headers, filter plumbing, and pump discharge lines where threaded Schedule 80 fittings are used throughout the system
  • Pool & Spa — Inline connections in commercial pool mechanical rooms and equipment pads where Schedule 80 threaded fittings are used at pump, filter, and chemical feed connections
  • HVAC & Cooling Systems — Threaded inline couplings in chilled water and process cooling lines where PVC Schedule 80 is specified for chemical compatibility or pressure service
