This 1-1/4" Schedule 80 PVC FPT × FPT Coupling provides a straight inline connection between two 1-1/4" male-threaded components in a threaded Schedule 80 PVC pressure piping system. Both female NPT threaded ends receive standard 1-1/4" male-threaded pipe, nipples, MPT adapters, or male-threaded fittings, joining them end to end without solvent cement in a fully threaded assembly.

The FPT × FPT coupling is the foundational straight-run joining fitting in any threaded PVC system — the threaded counterpart to the slip coupling in solvent-welded systems. Where the slip coupling joins plain pipe ends with solvent cement, the threaded coupling joins two male-threaded ends by receiving both into its female-threaded sockets on either side. The result is an all-threaded assembly at the coupling position: a nipple threads in from one side, another nipple or MPT-terminated fitting threads in from the other, and the coupling body draws both into a continuous, sealed straight run.

This configuration is particularly common in systems that are intentionally built as fully threaded assemblies — mechanical rooms and equipment connections where threaded pipe and nipples are the primary construction method, retrofit and repair situations where existing threaded infrastructure must be extended or modified without introducing solvent-welded sections, and installations where periodic disassembly of pipe segments is anticipated and the entire run is constructed with threaded components to maintain that flexibility. Hand-tighten plus one to two turns — do not over-torque PVC female threads, as excessive force risks cracking the coupling body at the thread root. When assembling a nipple-coupling-nipple run, make up both ends evenly and avoid applying torsional stress to one end while tightening the other. Apply published pressure derating factors for service temperatures above 73°F.
