This 1-1/4" Schedule 80 PVC FPT × FPT Coupling provides a straight inline connection between two 1-1/4" male-threaded components in a threaded Schedule 80 PVC pressure piping system. Both female NPT threaded ends receive standard 1-1/4" male-threaded pipe, nipples, MPT adapters, or male-threaded fittings, joining them end to end without solvent cement in a fully threaded assembly.

The FPT × FPT coupling is the foundational straight-run joining fitting in any threaded PVC system — the threaded counterpart to the slip coupling in solvent-welded systems. Where the slip coupling joins plain pipe ends with solvent cement, the threaded coupling joins two male-threaded ends by receiving both into its female-threaded sockets on either side. The result is an all-threaded assembly at the coupling position: a nipple threads in from one side, another nipple or MPT-terminated fitting threads in from the other, and the coupling body draws both into a continuous, sealed straight run.

This configuration is particularly common in systems that are intentionally built as fully threaded assemblies — mechanical rooms and equipment connections where threaded pipe and nipples are the primary construction method, retrofit and repair situations where existing threaded infrastructure must be extended or modified without introducing solvent-welded sections, and installations where periodic disassembly of pipe segments is anticipated and the entire run is constructed with threaded components to maintain that flexibility. In hybrid systems that combine solvent-welded mains with threaded branch assemblies, the FPT × FPT coupling joins the threaded components within the branch without requiring cement work at the coupling position.

At 1-1/4", the 830-012 serves the same transitional pipe size role as its slip coupling counterpart — appearing at secondary distribution headers, pump suction lines, equipment feed connections, and branch mains where 1" is undersized and 1-1/2" is oversized for the flow requirement. In threaded Schedule 80 systems at this size, the FPT × FPT coupling is a high-frequency component wherever a straight nipple-to-nipple or adapter-to-nipple joint is needed along the run.

Manufactured in dark gray Schedule 80 PVC, this coupling delivers the increased wall thickness and mechanical strength required in industrial, chemical, and commercial pressure piping where Schedule 40 ratings are insufficient. PVC's broad chemical resistance covers acids, bases, salts, chlorine, and most common process fluids, providing long service life in corrosive environments where metal couplings would corrode, scale, or seize on threads over time. NSF/ANSI 61 listing confirms suitability for potable water contact.

Rated to 630 psi at 73°F, this coupling handles standard to elevated pressure service across a wide range of fluid handling applications. Apply PTFE tape or compatible pipe thread sealant to all male threads before engaging either FPT end. Hand-tighten plus one to two turns — do not over-torque PVC female threads, as excessive force risks cracking the coupling body at the thread root. When assembling a nipple-coupling-nipple run, make up both ends evenly and avoid applying torsional stress to one end while tightening the other. Apply published pressure derating factors for service temperatures above 73°F.

Industries & Applications:

  • Fully Threaded Schedule 80 Systems — Joins two 1-1/4" MPT-terminated components — nipples, male adapters, threaded pipe ends — in a straight inline run in mechanical rooms, equipment bays, and process piping assemblies that are built entirely with threaded Schedule 80 PVC components rather than solvent-welded pipe; the 830-012 is the straight-run coupling that holds these fully threaded assemblies together
  • Industrial Process Piping — Provides an inline straight connection between 1-1/4" Schedule 80 threaded nipples and MPT-terminated fittings on secondary process headers, chemical distribution branches, pump suction assemblies, and equipment supply connections in water treatment, chemical processing, and manufacturing facilities
  • Commercial Plumbing — Joins threaded pipe segments and nipples in 1-1/4" Schedule 80 PVC branch supply mains, equipment feed connections, and mechanical room piping assemblies where the system is constructed with threaded fittings and nipples rather than solvent-welded pipe runs
  • Threaded System Repair & Extension — Provides a straight inline repair or extension coupling in existing threaded Schedule 80 PVC systems where a damaged nipple or short threaded section must be replaced — threading out the damaged component and threading in a replacement without cutting solvent-cemented pipe or introducing cement work into a threaded assembly
  • Chemical Handling — Delivers a corrosion-resistant, fully threaded straight-run coupling on 1-1/4" chemical feed lines, reagent distribution headers, and chemical dosing assemblies in systems handling acids, caustics, and aggressive fluids where threaded Schedule 80 PVC construction is specified for the branch and equipment connection piping
  • Water & Wastewater Treatment — Joins threaded nipple-and-fitting assemblies on 1-1/4" Schedule 80 PVC process headers, chemical dosing supply lines, instrument connection runs, and equipment feed piping in municipal and industrial water treatment facilities where threaded construction is used at secondary distribution and equipment connection points
  • Irrigation & Agricultural Systems — Connects 1-1/4" Schedule 80 PVC nipples and threaded components in pump station outlet assemblies, filter manifold connections, and secondary header branch runs in commercial irrigation and agricultural water supply systems where the connection points are built with threaded fittings rather than solvent-welded pipe
