This 1/2" Schedule 80 PVC Threaded Coupling (FPT x FPT) provides a direct inline connection between two 1/2" male NPT-threaded pipe ends, nipples, or fitting outlets in industrial, chemical, and commercial piping systems. Constructed in dark gray Schedule 80 PVC, it delivers the elevated wall thickness and pressure capacity required in demanding threaded PVC installations where standard Schedule 40 fittings are insufficient and where a reliable, corrosion-resistant inline threaded joint is needed at small-diameter service connections.

Both female pipe thread (FPT) ends are cut to NPT tapered thread standards, accepting any standard 1/2" male NPT pipe end or nipple on each side to form a pressure-tight mechanical joint when made up with thread sealant or PTFE tape. The FPT x FPT coupling is the standard threaded approach for extending a pipe run by joining two nipples end-to-end, reconnecting a threaded line after a cut or repair, or bridging two threaded system components at an inline junction without introducing a solvent-cement joint into an all-threaded assembly. At 1/2", this coupling is among the most frequently specified sizes in Schedule 80 threaded systems, appearing throughout chemical feed assemblies, instrument manifolds, compressed air distribution lines, and small-diameter process piping installations where all-threaded construction is required or preferred.

Rated to 850 psi at 73°F, this coupling is well-suited for demanding pressure service across a broad range of industrial, chemical, and commercial fluid handling applications. Its PVC composition provides excellent resistance to acids, bases, salts, and chlorinated water, making it a durable long-term choice in corrosive environments where metal couplings would degrade or seize onto threads over time. NSF/ANSI 61 listing confirms suitability for potable water contact, including use in drinking water distribution and treatment systems.

Install using a quality pipe thread sealant or PTFE tape on all male NPT threads before engagement. Avoid over-torquing — PVC threads require hand-tight plus one to two turns; excessive force can crack the fitting or distort thread engagement. If joining two fixed pipe ends, consider whether a union fitting is needed to allow future disassembly — a cemented or fully made-up threaded coupling is not removable without cutting. Derate pressure ratings for elevated temperatures per published derating curves.
