Coupling, Slip x Slip — PVC Schedule 40 | 12" (429-120)

Meta Title: 12" PVC Schedule 40 Coupling Slip x Slip | 429-120

Meta Description: Shop the 12" PVC Schedule 40 coupling (429-120) with slip x slip socket connections. White PVC, ASTM D2466, for permanent solvent-weld pipe joins, extensions, and repairs on large-diameter commercial and municipal piping systems. Buy at Maxx-Supply.

Product Description:

The 429-120 is a 12" Schedule 40 PVC coupling with slip socket connections on both ends. The coupling is the most fundamental fitting in any PVC piping system — joining two lengths of same-diameter pipe end to end with a permanent, pressure-rated solvent-weld bond. At 12", the 429-120 is a large-diameter commercial and municipal-grade fitting serving the same core functions it does at any size: extending a run, completing a field-cut pipe connection, joining prefabricated pipe sections, or executing an in-line repair on an existing 12" main.

The simplicity of the coupling's function belies its importance in large-diameter system assembly. On a 12" piping installation, couplings appear at every pipe section joint throughout the run — their quantity, quality, and correct installation directly determine the long-term integrity of the entire system. A properly solvent-welded 12" coupling joint, made with heavy-bodied PVC cement and correct socket preparation, produces a fused connection that is as strong as the pipe wall itself and rated to the full pressure capacity of the Schedule 40 system.

Both slip sockets are sized to IPS-dimension tolerances, accepting standard 12" Schedule 40 PVC pipe bonded with heavy-bodied PVC solvent cement — the appropriate grade for large-diameter applications where socket depth, cement coverage area, and assembly time before joint movement are all substantially greater than small-bore work. The coupling carries no center stop on most large-diameter designs, allowing pipe to be inserted from either end to accommodate field conditions and repair scenarios where a full pipe end is not accessible.

Manufactured from virgin PVC compound to ASTM D2466, the 429-120 carries the white color standard for Schedule 40 fittings and is NSF/ANSI 61 listed for potable water service, qualifying it for municipal water distribution, commercial plumbing, and industrial process piping applications.

Industries & Applications:

  • Municipal Water Distribution — Pipe section joins, field-cut connections, and in-line repairs on 12" water distribution mains, pump station headers, and transmission line installations; a high-consumption fitting on large-diameter municipal projects where couplings appear at every pipe joint throughout the run
  • Large-Scale Irrigation & Agriculture — Pipe extension and section joining on 12" irrigation supply mains, pivot system primary feed lines, and large-format agricultural and commercial landscape irrigation infrastructure
  • Industrial Process Piping — In-line pipe joins and repair couplings on 12" process water, cooling water, plant utility fluid, and chemical distribution headers in manufacturing and industrial plant environments
  • Stormwater & Drainage Management — Pipe section connections on 12" gravity-flow stormwater collection, conveyance, and detention system runs; coupling's no-center-stop design facilitates repair installations where only one accessible pipe end is available
  • Water & Wastewater Treatment — Distribution header pipe joins and repair connections in treatment plant piping systems where reliable, pressure-rated solvent-weld joints are required on primary flow lines
  • Pump Station & Equipment Connections — Extension and transition connections between 12" pump discharge and suction headers, valve assemblies, and equipment connection piping
  • Aquaculture & Recirculating Systems — Pipe joins and extension connections on 12" supply and return headers in large commercial aquaculture, water treatment, and recirculating system installations
  • Fire Suppression & Site Utility — Pipe section joins on 12" underground and above-ground fire protection supply mains and site utility water distribution runs on commercial, industrial, and campus-scale projects
  • Chemical Processing & Manufacturing — Corrosion-resistant inline pipe joins on large-diameter chemical distribution, rinse water, and process fluid headers where PVC's chemical resistance and fused solvent-weld joints are required
