This 1-1/4" Schedule 40 PVC Cross Fitting provides four-way inline branching in solvent-cement PVC piping systems, allowing a single pipe run to split or intersect in two directions simultaneously from a common center body. Constructed in white Schedule 40 PVC, it offers reliable performance in commercial plumbing, irrigation, and light industrial applications where a compact, corrosion-resistant four-port junction is required at an intermediate pipe diameter well-suited to moderate-flow distribution and branch supply systems.

All four ports — both inline run ends and both perpendicular branch outlets — accept 1-1/4" PVC pipe for permanent solvent-cement bonds, creating a rigid, leak-free assembly at each joint. The cross configuration is particularly well-suited for distribution manifolds, grid-style irrigation headers, fire suppression branch lines, and any system layout where two perpendicular pipe runs must intersect at a single fitting rather than being constructed from multiple tees and nipples. At 1-1/4", this cross fitting serves the common intermediate diameter found in higher-flow branch supply lines, equipment feed headers, and zone distribution systems where 3/4" or 1" pipe would be undersized for the required flow volume but a full 1-1/2" or 2" main is not warranted. Consolidating the four-way junction into a single fitting reduces overall fitting count, shortens assembly time, and minimizes potential leak points in the completed system.

Rated to approximately 370 psi at 73°F, this cross fitting handles the pressure demands of standard commercial and light industrial water distribution service. Its PVC composition provides excellent resistance to corrosion, scale buildup, chlorinated water, and a broad range of chemical exposures, making it a long-lasting alternative to metal fittings in moisture-prone or chemically active environments. NSF/ANSI 61 listing confirms suitability for potable water contact.

Apply solvent cement to both the pipe end and fitting socket per ASTM D2564 procedures at each port, using a primer appropriate for the pipe and fitting schedule. Insert pipe fully into each socket and maintain a quarter-turn during assembly for even cement distribution across the joint surface. Work through all four joints systematically and allow adequate cure time before pressurizing the system. Derate pressure ratings for elevated temperatures per published derating curves.

Industries & Applications:

  • Irrigation & Water Distribution — Creates four-way junctions in grid-layout irrigation headers, intermediate-diameter lateral distribution manifolds, and zone supply lines in agricultural and municipal systems where 1-1/4" pipe provides adequate flow capacity for the distribution network without requiring a full 1-1/2" or 2" mainline
  • Commercial Plumbing — Distributes water to multiple branch lines from a single inline location in pressurized 1-1/4" supply systems, reducing fitting count versus multi-tee assemblies at four-way junction points in commercial building water distribution networks
  • Fire Suppression Systems — Branches 1-1/4" sprinkler supply lines at four-way grid intersections in light-hazard fire suppression installations where Schedule 40 PVC is permitted and intermediate pipe sizing is appropriate for the system hydraulic design
  • Industrial Process Piping — Serves as a compact four-port junction in process water, cooling water, and rinse station distribution lines at intermediate 1-1/4" pipe diameters in light-duty manufacturing and water treatment facility installations
  • Water Treatment & Aquaculture — Used in recirculating system manifolds, filter feed headers, and tank distribution grids at 1-1/4" line sizes where corrosion resistance, NSF/ANSI 61 compliance, and a compact four-way junction are required in the distribution assembly
  • HVAC & Mechanical Systems — Branches 1-1/4" chilled water or treated water distribution lines at four-way intersections in cooling tower and mechanical system installations where Schedule 40 PVC pressure ratings are appropriate for the operating conditions
