This 2" Schedule 40 PVC 22-1/2 Degree Elbow (Slip x Slip) provides a shallow-angle direction change in solvent-cement PVC piping systems, offering a gradual 22-1/2 degree offset that falls between a straight run and the more aggressive turns produced by 45-degree and 90-degree elbows. Constructed in white Schedule 40 PVC, it offers reliable performance in commercial plumbing, irrigation, and light industrial applications where pipe routing must navigate gradual offsets around structural elements, equipment enclosures, and spatial constraints that a standard elbow angle would overrun or undershoot.

Both the inlet and outlet are 2" slip sockets that accept 2" PVC pipe for permanent solvent-cement bonds, redirecting the pipe run 22-1/2 degrees from the incoming axis in a single compact fitting body. The shallow turn angle makes this elbow particularly useful in multi-elbow offset assemblies — where two or more low-angle elbows are combined in sequence to achieve a custom total offset angle, route pipe around an obstacle along a gentle arc, or produce a parallel offset between two pipe runs at a controlled centerline distance. Two 22-1/2 degree elbows in series produce a 45-degree total turn; combined with other shallow-angle fittings from the same elbow family, this fitting gives installers precise angular control over pipe routing in tight or geometrically constrained installations that standard elbow increments cannot resolve cleanly.

Rated to approximately 280 psi at 73°F, this elbow is suited for standard commercial and light industrial water distribution and irrigation service within its pressure class. Its PVC composition provides excellent resistance to corrosion, scale, chlorinated water, and a broad range of chemical exposures, making it a reliable long-term alternative to metal fittings in moisture-prone or chemically active environments. NSF/ANSI 61 listing confirms suitability for potable water contact.

Apply solvent cement to both the pipe end and fitting socket on each side per ASTM D2564 procedures, using a primer appropriate for the pipe and fitting schedule. Insert pipe fully into each socket and maintain a quarter-turn during assembly for even cement distribution across the joint surface. Align the elbow outlet to the intended direction of the downstream run before the cement begins to set — orientation cannot be adjusted after cure. In multi-elbow offset assemblies, plan and stage all fitting orientations before beginning cement application. Allow adequate cure time before pressurizing the system, and derate pressure ratings for elevated temperatures per published derating curves.

Industries & Applications:

  • Irrigation & Water Distribution — Routes 2" PVC mainline pipe around structural footings, equipment pads, and underground obstacles at shallow angles in agricultural and municipal irrigation systems where standard 45-degree or 90-degree elbows would produce too aggressive a turn for the available routing clearance or pipe support spacing
  • Commercial Plumbing — Navigates gradual pipe offsets around beams, columns, and mechanical equipment in commercial building water distribution systems, providing precise angular control over 2" supply main routing in congested mechanical rooms and ceiling plenum spaces
  • Fire Suppression Systems — Used in multi-elbow offset assemblies within Schedule 40 PVC fire suppression distribution systems to route branch lines around structural elements at controlled shallow angles, maintaining adequate pipe support spacing and minimizing system pressure drop through gradual turns
  • Industrial Process Piping — Provides shallow-angle direction changes in process water distribution headers, cooling water mains, and equipment feed lines in light industrial and manufacturing facilities where routing constraints require gradual offsets that standard elbow increments cannot achieve
  • Water Treatment & Aquaculture — Used in recirculating system distribution runs, filter feed headers, and tank supply lines where 2" PVC pipe must navigate gradual routing offsets around equipment, tanks, and structural elements in tight mechanical spaces with NSF/ANSI 61 compliance required throughout
  • HVAC & Mechanical Systems — Routes 2" PVC pipe runs at shallow angles around mechanical equipment, structural members, and building elements on cooling tower supply headers, chilled water distribution mains, and chemically treated water systems where gradual offset routing preserves pipe alignment and support requirements within the Schedule 40 pressure class
