This 1/2" Schedule 80 PVC 45 Degree Elbow (Slip x Slip) provides a permanent, solvent-cement mid-angle direction change in Schedule 80 PVC pressure piping systems, offering a 45-degree offset that delivers a more gradual turn than a 90-degree elbow while still producing a meaningful change in pipe direction within a compact fitting body. Constructed in dark gray Schedule 80 PVC, it is well-suited for industrial, chemical, and commercial plumbing installations where higher operating pressures, greater mechanical strength, or chemical resistance requirements dictate the use of Schedule 80 components throughout the system.

Both the inlet and outlet are 1/2" slip sockets that accept 1/2" PVC pipe for permanent solvent-cement bonds, redirecting the pipe run 45 degrees from the incoming axis. The 45-degree turn is the most versatile mid-angle fitting in the PVC elbow family — used individually to produce a controlled offset along a single plane, or combined in pairs and sequences to achieve parallel pipe offsets, rolling offsets, and custom routing angles that neither a 90-degree nor a straight run can accomplish. Two 45-degree elbows in series with a connecting nipple or pipe section produce a clean parallel offset between two pipe centerlines — a configuration frequently used to route around structural elements, navigate congested mechanical spaces, and transition between pipe support locations in industrial and commercial Schedule 80 systems. At 1/2", this elbow appears throughout chemical feed assemblies, instrument distribution manifolds, pump discharge piping, and small-diameter process piping installations where Schedule 80 pressure capacity is required at direction change and offset points.

Rated to approximately 850 psi at 73°F, this elbow is well-suited for demanding pressure service across a broad range of industrial, chemical, and commercial fluid handling applications. Its PVC composition provides excellent resistance to acids, bases, salts, and chlorinated water, making it a durable long-term choice in corrosive environments where metal fittings would degrade. NSF/ANSI 61 listing confirms suitability for potable water contact, including use in drinking water distribution and treatment systems.

Apply solvent cement to both the pipe end and fitting socket on each side per ASTM D2564 procedures, using a primer appropriate for the pipe and fitting schedule. Insert pipe fully into each socket and maintain a quarter-turn during assembly for even cement distribution across the joint surface. Align the elbow outlet to the intended direction of the downstream run before the cement begins to set — orientation cannot be adjusted after cure. In multi-elbow offset assemblies, plan and stage all fitting orientations before beginning cement application. Allow adequate cure time before pressurizing the system, and derate pressure ratings for elevated temperatures per published derating curves.

Industries & Applications:

  • Industrial Process Piping — Produces controlled 45-degree direction changes and parallel pipe offsets in chemical processing, water treatment, and manufacturing facilities where Schedule 80 pressure ratings are specified throughout small-diameter process and instrument piping assemblies at direction change and routing offset points
  • Chemical Handling — Performs reliably at direction change and offset points in systems conveying acids, caustics, fertilizer solutions, and other corrosive fluids incompatible with metal fittings, providing a permanent high-pressure-rated 45-degree turn within all-socket Schedule 80 chemical distribution and feed assemblies at 1/2" line sizes
  • Commercial Plumbing — Redirects 1/2" Schedule 80 PVC pipe runs at gradual offsets around structural members, through wall penetrations, and into equipment connection assemblies in high-pressure or exposed commercial building water supply systems where a 90-degree turn would be too aggressive for the available routing clearance
  • Irrigation & Water Distribution — Provides corrosion-resistant 45-degree turns and parallel offsets at pump discharge assemblies, filter housing connections, and instrument manifold routing points in high-pressure agricultural and municipal irrigation systems where Schedule 80 ratings are specified at critical small-diameter service points
  • Water Treatment & Aquaculture — Used at pump outlet offsets, chemical dosing line routing changes, instrument manifold direction changes, and recirculating system header transitions where NSF/ANSI 61 compliance and Schedule 80 pressure capacity are required at 1/2" offset and direction change locations
  • HVAC & Mechanical Systems — Redirects and offsets 1/2" Schedule 80 PVC pipe runs at gradual angles on cooling tower chemical feed lines, chilled water instrument connections, and chemically treated water system service assemblies requiring elevated pressure ratings at direction change and offset points
