Flange (Loose Ring), Spigot PVC Schedule 80 1-1/4" (856-012)

The 856-012 is a Schedule 80 PVC loose ring flange — also commonly referred to as a Van Stone flange — in 1-1/4" with a spigot end connection. This two-piece design consists of a PVC stub flange with a spigot end that solvent cements into a socket on adjacent pipe or fittings, and a separate Schedule 80 PVC backing ring that rotates freely around the stub. The free-rotating ring is the defining advantage of this flange type: bolt holes can be aligned to any mating flange without rotating the pipe itself, simplifying installation in tight or fixed-pipe configurations.

The spigot end is sized to the pipe's outside diameter, allowing it to be inserted directly into a standard socket on a mating fitting or valve. Once cemented, the backing ring rotates 360° around the stub flange neck, making it easy to line up the four-bolt ANSI Class 150 drilling pattern with any orientation of the mating flange on pumps, valves, tanks, or equipment connections.

Manufactured from gray Schedule 80 PVC compound, this flange delivers higher pressure ratings and greater wall thickness than Schedule 40 equivalents, making it appropriate for demanding industrial, chemical, and process piping applications. The material provides excellent resistance to corrosion, acids, bases, and a wide range of chemicals. The flange face is flat-faced and conforms to ANSI/ASME B16.5 Class 150 bolt circle dimensions, ensuring compatibility with standard metallic and plastic mating flanges.

Use a quality PVC primer and solvent cement rated for Schedule 80 fittings when installing the spigot end. Flange bolting should be done with appropriate gasket material (typically full-face EPDM or PTFE) and bolts torqued evenly in a cross pattern to avoid distortion of the flange face.
