Flange (Loose Ring), Spigot PVC Schedule 80 2" (856-020)

The 856-020 is a 2" PVC Schedule 80 loose ring flange in a spigot end configuration. The spigot end inserts into a standard 2" socket fitting or pipe socket for solvent welding, while the loose ring — a separate rotating collar — sits behind the flange face and allows the bolt holes to be rotated freely to any position before bolting up. This rotational freedom is the defining practical advantage of the loose ring design: bolt holes align to the mating flange without requiring the pipe to be turned, which is a significant installation advantage in systems where the pipe cannot be rotated after solvent welding or where misalignment between bolt patterns would otherwise require shimming, cutting, or reassembly.

The flange face mates flat against a corresponding flange — whether PVC, metal, or other material — and is sealed with a full-face or ring gasket compressed between the two faces by the flange bolts. This creates a fully demountable, bolted connection point in an otherwise solvent-weld PVC system, allowing the connected equipment, valve, pump, or pipeline section to be unbolted and removed without cutting any pipe. At 2", flanged connections of this type are common at pump suction and discharge ports, at the inlet and outlet of large inline valves and strainers, at connections to metal piping systems or equipment, and anywhere in the system where a bolted break-point is required for future maintenance access.

The spigot end differs from a socket end in that it slides into a receiving socket rather than receiving pipe into itself — making it the correct choice when connecting to a fitting or valve that has a socket end, or when the flange needs to be inserted into an existing socket in the piping assembly.

Built to Schedule 80 wall thickness standards from rigid PVC compound, the 856-020 carries the elevated pressure ratings required for demanding industrial and commercial pressure service. Like all Schedule 80 PVC fittings, it is fully resistant to corrosion, chemical attack, and biological fouling — with none of the rust, galvanic corrosion, or weight concerns that accompany metal flanges of equivalent pressure rating.
