The 8" PVC Schedule 40 Male Adapter (MPT x Slip) is a large-diameter transition fitting designed to connect a solvent-weld PVC piping system to a female NPT threaded connection at the point where the two joint types meet. The slip socket end accepts 8-inch Schedule 40 PVC pipe via solvent cement for a permanent, pressure-tight installation on the pipe side, while the male NPT threaded end engages any standard 8-inch female threaded fitting, valve, equipment port, or threaded coupling on the connection side.

The male adapter is one of the most fundamental transition fittings in PVC piping — it exists specifically to bridge the two dominant joint types in plastic pipe systems. In a typical installation, the bulk of the piping run is assembled using slip socket fittings and solvent cement, which provides the most hydraulically efficient, leak-resistant, and cost-effective joints for permanent PVC assemblies. At points where the system must connect to threaded equipment, valves, flanged assemblies with threaded inlets, or existing threaded pipe infrastructure, the male adapter provides that transition cleanly and without additional hardware.
