This 1/2" Schedule 80 PVC Male Adapter (MPT x Slip) provides a direct, reliable transition from a PVC pipe run to any standard female NPT-threaded fitting, valve, pump port, or equipment connection in industrial, chemical, and commercial piping systems. Constructed in dark gray Schedule 80 PVC, it delivers the elevated wall thickness and pressure capacity required in demanding installations where standard Schedule 40 fittings are insufficient and where a corrosion-resistant pipe-to-thread transition is needed at small-diameter service connections.

The slip socket end accepts a 1/2" PVC pipe for a permanent solvent-cement bond, while the MPT exterior engages any standard FPT or FIP female-threaded connection using NPT tapered thread geometry. This MPT x Slip configuration is the standard approach for terminating a PVC pipe run at a threaded valve, equipment inlet, or system component — eliminating the need for additional couplings or transition pieces in the assembly. At 1/2", this adapter is among the most frequently specified sizes in industrial and commercial PVC systems, appearing at instrument taps, chemical feed connections, small-diameter branch terminations, and equipment service ports throughout process and distribution piping installations.

Rated to 850 psi at 73°F (governed by the 1/2" MPT threaded end), this adapter is well-suited for demanding pressure service across a broad range of fluid handling applications. Its PVC composition provides excellent resistance to acids, bases, salts, and chlorinated water, making it a durable long-term choice in corrosive environments where metal fittings would degrade. NSF/ANSI 61 listing confirms suitability for potable water contact, including use in drinking water distribution and treatment systems.

Apply solvent cement to both the pipe end and fitting socket per ASTM D2564 procedures, using a primer appropriate for the pipe and fitting schedule. Insert pipe fully into the socket and maintain a quarter-turn during assembly for even cement distribution across the joint surface. On the threaded end, use a quality pipe thread sealant or PTFE tape and avoid over-torquing — PVC threads require hand-tight plus one to two turns; excessive force can crack the fitting. Allow adequate cure time on the cemented joint before pressurizing the system, and derate pressure ratings for elevated temperatures per published derating curves.

Industries & Applications:

  • Industrial Process Piping — Terminates 1/2" Schedule 80 PVC pipe runs at pump inlets, valve bodies, chemical feed ports, instrument taps, and equipment connections in chemical processing, water treatment, and manufacturing facilities where elevated pressure ratings are specified at small-diameter service points
  • Commercial Plumbing — Connects 1/2" Schedule 80 PVC branch lines to threaded valves, pressure gauges, backflow preventers, and fixture supply connections in high-pressure or exposed commercial building water distribution systems
  • Irrigation & Water Distribution — Transitions 1/2" PVC lateral supply lines to threaded solenoid valves, drip emitter manifolds, and filter housings in agricultural and municipal irrigation systems requiring Schedule 80 pressure ratings at small-diameter branch terminations
  • Chemical Handling — Provides a corrosion-resistant pipe-to-thread transition in systems conveying acids, caustics, fertilizer solutions, and other fluids incompatible with metal fittings, particularly at chemical metering pump inlets, injection points, and dosing manifold connections
  • Water Treatment & Aquaculture — Used at UV sterilizer inlets, filter housing connections, chemical dosing ports, and recirculating pump service lines where NSF/ANSI 61 compliance and Schedule 80 chemical resistance are required at 1/2" line sizes
  • HVAC & Mechanical Systems — Connects 1/2" Schedule 80 PVC pipe runs to threaded sensor ports, drain valves, and equipment connections on cooling tower headers, chilled water loops, and chemically treated water systems requiring elevated pressure ratings at small-diameter service connections
