This 1-1/2" Schedule 80 PVC MPT Plug provides a threaded closure for any 1-1/2" female NPT (FPT) port in a Schedule 80 PVC pressure piping system. The externally threaded male body engages directly into an open FPT opening — on a tee branch outlet, cross port, manifold connection, equipment nozzle, or tank fitting — sealing the port against pressure, flow, and fluid loss with a reliable thread-and-sealant mechanical closure.

Understanding the distinction between a plug and a cap is essential for correct product selection. The MPT plug is a male-threaded component that inserts into a female-threaded port — it closes open FPT openings. The FPT cap, by contrast, is a female-threaded component that threads onto a male-threaded pipe end or nipple — it closes open MPT ends. At the same 1-1/2" pipe size, these two fittings serve opposite thread orientations and are not interchangeable. When the open port to be sealed is female-threaded, the plug is the correct selection.

As a threaded closure, the 850-015 offers a key serviceability advantage over solvent-cemented slip caps: the plug can be removed and reinstalled without cutting into the line.
