Plug, MPT PVC Schedule 80 4" (850-040)

The 4" PVC Schedule 80 Plug (Part No. 850-040) is a pressure-rated, gray-body fitting designed to close the open end of a 4" female-threaded (FPT) fitting, pipe, or equipment port. The male pipe thread (MPT) connection engages the internal threads of the receiving fitting or port, creating a removable, pressure-rated termination that seals the line against flow, pressure, and ingress — while remaining fully removable without cutting into the pipe assembly.

The threaded plug is fundamentally different from a solvent-cemented slip cap in one critical respect: removability. Where a cemented cap creates a permanent, integral termination that requires cutting to remove, the MPT plug threads in and out of the receiving female connection, allowing the line end to be opened and re-sealed repeatedly without disturbing the surrounding pipe assembly. This makes the threaded plug the correct specification for pressure test ports, cleanout access points, future expansion stub-outs, system isolation terminations, and any pipe end where future access is anticipated or required as part of routine system operation or maintenance.
