The 437-623 is a 10" x 3" Schedule 40 PVC reducer bushing with a slip spigot (male slip) on the 10" end and a slip socket on the 3" end. This single-piece fitting accomplishes a seven-inch nominal diameter reduction — one of the more dramatic step-downs in the large-diameter Schedule 40 bushing series — by inserting the 10" spigot directly into any compatible 10" slip socket fitting while the 3" socket accepts the downstream pipe or fitting, completing the full transition without an intermediate coupling, separate reducer, or additional components between fittings.

A 10" to 3" reduction of this magnitude is purposeful. On large-diameter distribution systems, irrigation mains, and industrial process headers, a 3" branch or outlet is typically serving a specific, defined function: a dedicated valve assembly handling meaningful but not full-main flow, a chemical injection or treatment port requiring a generously sized threaded or socket connection, a cleanout or drain lateral, or a controlled bypass circuit that must handle elevated flow rates without the pressure drop limitations of a smaller tap. The 3" outlet is large enough for full-port ball valves and gate valves, check valves, and 3" pipe runs — substantially more capable than a 1" or 2" instrument tap — while the bushing format keeps the transition as compact and low-joint-count as the installation allows.

The 10" spigot is machined to IPS outside diameter tolerances for a precise, solvent-weld fit in any 10" Schedule 40 slip socket.
