The 6" x 2" PVC Schedule 40 Reducer Bushing Spigot x FPT (438-528) provides a direct, large-reduction transition from a 6" socket fitting or pipe to a 2" female-threaded outlet in a single fitting—eliminating the need for multiple reducing fittings staged in series. Manufactured from rigid white PVC conforming to ASTM D1785, this bushing is suited for the pressure ratings, chemical resistance, and installation demands of commercial, municipal, and industrial piping systems built on Schedule 40 PVC.

The spigot (SPG) end is sized to the outside diameter of 6" Schedule 40 pipe, allowing it to insert directly into any standard 6" PVC socket fitting or solvent-weld coupling. A standard Schedule 40 solvent cement joint at the spigot end creates a permanent, pressure-rated connection into the larger side of the system. The opposite end is machined with a 2" FPT (female pipe thread) connection, accepting a 2" male-threaded fitting, nipple, valve, or instrument in the reduced outlet.

The 6" to 2" size combination represents a substantial four-size reduction, making this bushing particularly useful in manifold assemblies, tank outlet configurations, pump suction headers, and drainage systems where a large main line feeds or drains into a significantly smaller branch or discharge connection. Using a single reducer bushing rather than a series of stepped reductions keeps the fitting count low, minimizes potential leak points, and streamlines installation in tight spaces.

Schedule 40 construction is appropriate for standard-pressure commercial and municipal applications where the elevated wall thickness of Schedule 80 is not required by specification. White PVC offers broad chemical resistance to acids, bases, salts, and many industrial fluids while remaining lightweight and easy to work with in the field. For higher-pressure applications or more chemically aggressive service, refer to the Schedule 80 equivalent.

Industries & Applications:

  • Water & Wastewater Treatment — Reducing large-diameter main headers to threaded instrument, chemical injection, or sample port connections at treatment facilities and pump stations
  • Irrigation & Agriculture — Transitioning 6" mainline headers to 2" threaded branch outlets on pump stations, filter manifolds, and zone control assemblies
  • Municipal Infrastructure — Water distribution and drainage system manifolds where a large main line feeds reduced threaded branch connections
  • Industrial Manufacturing — Process fluid headers and tank outlet configurations requiring a single-fitting reduction from a large bore to a threaded instrumentation or flow-control connection
  • Commercial Plumbing — Large-diameter drain, waste, and vent (DWV) or pressure systems requiring a spigot-to-threaded transition at reduced branch outlets
  • Aquaculture & Aquatics — Recirculating system headers and sump outlet piping where a large intake or drain line transitions to a smaller threaded component connection
  • Chemical Processing — Tank and vessel drain connections where a 6" flanged or socket outlet transitions to a 2" threaded valve or discharge line
