This 3" x 3/4" Schedule 40 PVC Reducer Bushing (Spigot x Slip) provides a compact, all solvent-cement transition from a 3" socket-end fitting hub down to a 3/4" PVC pipe run, consolidating a large-to-small diameter reduction into a single fitting body without the need for threaded connections, additional couplings, or multi-piece transition assemblies. Constructed in white Schedule 40 PVC, it offers reliable performance in commercial plumbing, irrigation, and light industrial installations where a corrosion-resistant, socket-to-socket diameter reduction is required at an existing large-diameter fitting port.

The 3" spigot (male plain end) is sized to insert directly into the hub of any standard 3" socket-end fitting — tee, cross, coupling, elbow, or valve body — and is solvent-cemented in place to form a permanent, leak-free joint at the outer face. The 3/4" slip socket interior accepts a 3/4" PVC pipe for a permanent solvent-cement bond on the reduced-diameter outlet side, completing the transition in a single compact body. This Spigot x Slip configuration is the all-solvent-cement approach to socket reducing, and should not be confused with the Spigot x FPT bushing (438 series), which provides a threaded outlet, or with MPT x FPT hex bushings, which are installed entirely within threaded assemblies. The 3" to 3/4" step-down is a significant reduction — most commonly encountered at large-diameter tee or cross branch outlets serving small-diameter instrument taps, chemical injection points, drain connections, or dedicated small-bore service lines branching off large mainline socket assemblies.

Rated to 260 psi at 73°F (governed by the 3" spigot end), this bushing is suited for standard commercial and light industrial water distribution and irrigation service within its pressure class. Its PVC composition provides excellent resistance to corrosion, scale, chlorinated water, and a broad range of chemical exposures, making it a reliable long-term alternative to metal reducing bushings in moisture-prone or chemically active environments. NSF/ANSI 61 listing confirms suitability for potable water contact.

Apply solvent cement to the spigot exterior and the interior of the receiving 3" socket hub per ASTM D2564 procedures, inserting fully and holding briefly for initial set. Apply solvent cement separately to the 3/4" pipe end exterior and the fitting's slip socket interior before inserting the pipe fully and maintaining a quarter-turn during assembly for even cement distribution. Complete each cemented joint in sequence and allow adequate cure time before pressurizing the system. Derate pressure ratings for elevated temperatures per published derating curves.

Industries & Applications:

  • Irrigation & Water Distribution — Taps 3/4" small-diameter service lines, drip feed connections, solenoid valve inlets, and instrument ports off 3" socket-end tees and crosses in large-diameter agricultural and municipal irrigation mainline assemblies where a permanent, all solvent-cement reduction is preferred
  • Industrial Process Piping — Provides an all solvent-cement large-to-small socket transition at chemical feed injection points, instrument taps, drain stubs, and small-bore service connections branching off 3" process water socket assemblies in water treatment, chemical processing, and manufacturing facilities
  • Commercial Plumbing — Reduces 3" socket-end tee branches and cross ports to 3/4" pipe runs at fixture supply connections, pressure gauge taps, and small-diameter branch lines in commercial building water distribution systems
  • Chemical Handling — Delivers a corrosion-resistant, all solvent-cement socket reduction in large-diameter systems conveying acids, caustics, fertilizer solutions, and other fluids incompatible with metal fittings, particularly where a threaded outlet is not preferred at the branch connection point
  • Water Treatment & Aquaculture — Used at filter manifold branch outlets, tank distribution headers, and recirculating system tee ports where a 3" socket assembly must supply a 3/4" service line to a dosing point, sampling tap, or small-diameter distribution branch requiring NSF/ANSI 61 compliance
  • HVAC & Mechanical Systems — Transitions 3" socket-end fitting ports to 3/4" PVC pipe runs at sensor connections, drain valve stubs, and small-diameter service branches on cooling tower supply headers, chilled water distribution manifolds, and chemically treated water systems within the Schedule 40 pressure class
