This 1-1/2" x 1-1/2" x 1/2" Schedule 40 PVC Tee (Slip x Slip x FPT) provides a three-way junction in which the two inline run ends accept PVC pipe via solvent-cement socket bonds while the perpendicular branch outlet provides a built-in 1/2" female-threaded connection — combining a standard socket tee and a small-bore threaded branch adapter into a single compact fitting body. Constructed in white Schedule 40 PVC, it eliminates the need for a separate all-slip tee plus a threaded bushing or adapter at the branch, reducing fitting count, shortening assembly time, and minimizing potential leak points wherever a 1/2" threaded branch must be tapped off a 1-1/2" socket PVC pipe run.

The two 1-1/2" slip socket run ends accept 1-1/2" PVC pipe for permanent solvent-cement bonds, maintaining full mainline diameter through the inline run. The 1/2" FPT branch outlet accepts any standard 1/2" male NPT-threaded fitting, valve, nipple, or equipment connection directly — without the intermediate step of cementing a separate tee, waiting for cure, and then threading in a bushing before the threaded component can be installed. This mixed Slip x Slip x FPT configuration at the 1-1/2" x 1/2" combination is most commonly encountered where a 1-1/2" socket distribution main must supply a small-bore 1/2" threaded branch to an instrument tap, chemical injection port, solenoid valve, pressure gauge, drain connection, or dedicated small-diameter service line — a 3:1 nominal reduction from run to branch that provides a compact single-fitting solution for this frequently occurring large-main-to-small-branch interface. It should not be confused with the 402-210 (same series, 3/4" FPT branch), which serves the same run configuration with a less aggressive branch reduction, or the all-slip 401 series tee, which requires a separate adapter to achieve any threaded branch connection.

Rated to 330 psi at 73°F (governed by the 1-1/2" slip run ends), this tee is suited for standard commercial and light industrial water distribution and irrigation service within its pressure class. Its PVC composition provides excellent resistance to corrosion, scale, chlorinated water, and a broad range of chemical exposures, making it a reliable long-term alternative to metal fittings in moisture-prone or chemically active environments. NSF/ANSI 61 listing confirms suitability for potable water contact.

Apply solvent cement to both the pipe end and fitting socket at each run port per ASTM D2564 procedures, using a primer appropriate for the pipe and fitting schedule. Insert pipe fully into each socket and maintain a quarter-turn during assembly for even cement distribution across the joint surface. On the 1/2" FPT branch, use a quality pipe thread sealant or PTFE tape on the male NPT threads of the mating component before engagement. Avoid over-torquing the threaded branch connection — PVC threads require hand-tight plus one to two turns. Allow adequate cure time on both cemented joints before pressurizing the system, and derate pressure ratings for elevated temperatures per published derating curves.

Industries & Applications:

  • Irrigation & Water Distribution — Taps 1/2" male-threaded solenoid valves, drip emitter manifold inlets, pressure gauge connections, and small-diameter zone branch feeds directly off 1-1/2" socket PVC supply mains in agricultural and municipal irrigation systems where a compact single-fitting small-bore threaded branch tap is preferred over a separate tee-and-bushing assembly at each valve station or instrument connection
  • Commercial Plumbing — Provides a built-in 1/2" threaded branch outlet off 1-1/2" socket PVC supply runs for pressure gauges, ball valves, fixture supply connections, and small-diameter service branches in commercial building water distribution systems where a 3:1 run-to-branch reduction at a single mixed-connection fitting reduces assembly complexity at service tap locations
  • Industrial Process Piping — Taps 1/2" male-threaded instrument connections, chemical injection ports, sampling valves, and small-bore drain stubs directly off 1-1/2" socket process water distribution headers in water treatment, chemical processing, and manufacturing facilities, providing the most compact single-fitting solution for small-bore threaded instrument taps off a larger socket mainline
  • Chemical Handling — Provides a corrosion-resistant mixed-connection branch tap in systems conveying acids, caustics, fertilizer solutions, and other fluids incompatible with metal fittings, particularly at chemical metering pump connections, injection port assemblies, and dosing line branch points where a 1/2" male-threaded component must be tapped off a 1-1/2" socket PVC distribution main without a multi-fitting transition
  • Water Treatment & Aquaculture — Used at chemical dosing connection points, recirculating system instrument taps, sampling valve branch locations, and UV sterilizer inlet stubs where a 1-1/2" socket main must supply a 1/2" threaded service component and NSF/ANSI 61 compliance is required throughout the assembly
  • HVAC & Mechanical Systems — Branches 1/2" male-threaded sensor connections, drain valve stubs, and small-bore chemical feed taps directly off 1-1/2" socket PVC runs on cooling tower supply headers, chilled water distribution mains, and chemically treated water systems within the Schedule 40 pressure class
