The 1-1/2-inch FPT branch is the highest-capacity reduced branch port in the 402-series 3-inch reducing tee family — large enough to carry substantial flow volume for major zone supply feeds, large valve connections, and high-throughput equipment supply lines, while remaining one nominal step below the 2-inch full-bore distribution branch of the 402-338. At 1-1/2-inch NPT, the branch also benefits from near-universal fitting and equipment availability: ball valves, butterfly valves, check valves, union adapters, male adapters, filter housings, pump connections, and chemical equipment across virtually every manufacturer and material are readily available in 1-1/2-inch NPT, making branch assembly straightforward without size-matching complications.

Where the smaller branches in this series — the 1/2-inch through 1-inch — are primarily selected for instrumentation, injection, and modest service flow, and the 2-inch branch targets primary distribution, the 1-1/2-inch branch addresses the high-volume end of the service connection range.
