The 402-418 is a PVC Schedule 40 reducing tee with a 4" slip (socket) run and a 1-1/4" female pipe thread (FPT) branch outlet. The two 4" run ports accept solvent cement welding per ASTM D2564 for a permanent, pressure-rated inline connection, while the 1-1/4" FPT branch provides a threaded takeoff point compatible with any standard 1-1/4" NPT male-threaded fitting, valve, gauge, or equipment connection — no solvent welding required at the branch.

Manufactured from rigid PVC compound conforming to ASTM D1784 cell classification requirements, this fitting delivers the corrosion resistance, chemical compatibility, and long service life associated with Schedule 40 PVC across a wide range of commercial, industrial, and municipal piping systems. The Schedule 40 wall thickness provides reliable pressure-rated performance for both pressurized distribution systems and gravity-flow applications.

The 402-418 fills a precise and practical role within the 4" x 4" FPT reducing tee series. The 1-1/4" FPT branch is a step up from the 1" branch of the 402-417 — capable of handling moderately higher flow volumes and accommodating a broader range of valve bodies, strainer fittings, and inline equipment — while remaining clearly subordinate to the 4" mainline as a controlled branch rather than a primary flow path. This makes the 402-418 well suited for irrigation zone headers, pump bypass assemblies, chemical feed lines, and service branches where 1" is undersized for the required flow but a 2" branch would represent a disproportionately large tap off the mainline. PTFE thread tape or appropriate thread sealant should be applied to the male threads before assembly at the FPT outlet. The threaded branch remains serviceable throughout the system's service life — valves, meters, strainers, and inline components at the branch can be removed and replaced without cutting or disturbing the permanent solvent-welded mainline.

Industries & Applications:

  • Irrigation & Agriculture — Moderate-flow zone valve connections and service taps off 4" mainline headers in large-scale pressurized irrigation systems where a 1" branch is undersized for zone flow demand but a 2" branch is disproportionately large for the circuit
  • Municipal Water & Wastewater — Service branches, pressure monitoring connections, and moderate-flow taps off 4" distribution mains at pump stations and treatment facilities where a 1-1/4" threaded branch accommodates valves, meters, or secondary feed lines
  • Industrial Process Piping — Threaded branch taps off 4" process fluid and cooling water mainlines for chemical injection lines, bypass connections, strainer assemblies, and moderate-flow service branches requiring a serviceable threaded joint
  • Commercial Plumbing — Mechanical room distribution headers where a 4" supply main requires a 1-1/4" threaded branch for dedicated equipment feeds, secondary service circuits, or drain and bypass connections
  • Fire Suppression — Inspector test connections, auxiliary drain valves, and pressure relief taps off 4" sprinkler system mains where a 1-1/4" threaded branch provides adequate flow capacity for the required service function
  • Aquaculture & Water Treatment — Moderate-flow chemical dosing lines, secondary circuit feeds, and service taps off large-diameter supply headers in recirculating aquaculture and water treatment systems
