Tee, Slip x Slip x FPT 12" x 12" x 3" (C602-663)

The C602-663 is a 12" x 3" Schedule 40 PVC reducing tee featuring slip socket connections on the 12" run and a 3" female pipe thread (FPT) branch outlet. This fitting solves a specific and common large-diameter piping challenge: tapping a threaded branch connection — for a valve, cleanout, pressure gauge, sampling port, air release, or secondary feed line — directly off a 12" solvent-weld main without requiring a separate saddle fitting, tapping tee, or transition assembly.

The size differential between the 12" run and the 3" FPT branch is significant and intentional. On large-diameter water mains, irrigation headers, and industrial distribution systems, a 3" threaded branch provides a generously sized lateral outlet capable of handling meaningful flow volumes — far beyond an instrument tap — while still allowing the 12" main to operate at full capacity. The FPT thread accepts Schedule 40 or Schedule 80 threaded nipples, ball valves, gate valves, check valves, reducers, and pipe plugs, giving the installer broad flexibility in how the branch is terminated or extended without additional socket fittings.

The slip sockets on the 12" run bond with standard IPS-dimension Schedule 40 PVC pipe using heavy-bodied PVC solvent cement — the recommended grade at large diameters where socket depth, cement coverage area, and cure time are all substantially greater than small-bore applications. Manufactured from virgin PVC compound to ASTM D2466, the C602-663 carries the white color standard for Schedule 40 PVC fittings and is NSF/ANSI 61 listed for potable water service, making it suitable for municipal distribution and commercial water system applications in addition to industrial use.
