The 402-030 is a 3" PVC Schedule 40 tee in a slip x slip x FPT configuration — two solvent-weld slip sockets on the straight run and a female-threaded (FPT) branch outlet at 90°. The slip ends accept 3" plain-end pipe for solvent welding to form the permanent main run, while the FPT branch port receives any compatible male-threaded fitting, valve, instrument, or equipment connection without additional adapters.

The combination of a solvent-weld main run and a threaded branch is the defining characteristic of this fitting — and the reason it exists as a distinct product from the all-slip 401-030. In large-diameter PVC systems, the main run is typically assembled with solvent-weld joints for maximum strength and long-term pressure integrity, while the branch point frequently needs to remain accessible. A threaded branch allows the connected valve, gauge, sampling port, or service fitting to be removed and replaced over the life of the system without cutting into the main pipe run on either side. At 3", this serviceability consideration is especially practical — cutting and re-joining a 3" solvent-weld main to access a branch component is a significant field operation, and designing in a threaded branch at the outset eliminates that requirement entirely.

Manufactured from virgin PVC compound to Schedule 40 dimensional standards, the 402-030 delivers solid pressure ratings for standard commercial and light industrial service at the 3" diameter. The 90° branch geometry provides a direct perpendicular takeoff from the main run, which is standard for the vast majority of branching applications in large-diameter pressure piping.

Like all Schedule 40 PVC fittings, the 402-030 is lightweight, corrosion-proof, and fully resistant to biological fouling and a broad range of chemicals encountered in plumbing, irrigation, and process applications. Thread sealant should be applied at the FPT branch port to ensure a leak-free threaded connection under operating pressure.

Industries & Applications:

  • Municipal Water & Wastewater — Installing a threaded branch valve, sample tap, or service connection off a 3" solvent-weld PVC distribution or collection main without compromising the integrity of the permanent main run joints
  • Irrigation Systems — Adding a threaded zone valve, pressure gauge, or chemical injection port to a 3" Schedule 40 solvent-weld mainline in large commercial or agricultural irrigation infrastructure
  • Industrial Process Piping — Branching off a 3" solvent-weld process header to a threaded valve, instrument port, or secondary feed line that may require periodic removal or replacement
  • Water Treatment — Installing threaded branch connections for chemical dosing inlets, pressure gauges, or sample taps on 3" Schedule 40 treatment plant distribution piping
  • Commercial Plumbing — Creating accessible threaded service branches on 3" solvent-weld supply or drain lines in commercial construction where future serviceability at the branch point is a design requirement
  • Agriculture — Tapping a threaded filter, valve, or fertigation injection point into a 3" PVC irrigation main on large-scale agricultural water distribution systems
