The 802-209 is a 1-1/2" x 1/2" PVC Schedule 80 reducing tee in a slip x slip x FPT configuration, featuring 1-1/2" slip inlets on both run ends and a 1/2" FPT (Female Pipe Thread) branch outlet. The fitting integrates a small-diameter threaded branch point directly into a 1-1/2" solvent-weld mainline — combining two joining methods in a single fitting for installations where the main run is permanent but the branch connection needs to remain accessible and serviceable.

The 1/2" FPT branch is well-proportioned for instrument taps, pressure gauge ports, chemical injection points, small-bore sampling valves, and other applications where a minor flow takeoff or monitoring connection is needed without disrupting the mainline. Because the branch is threaded rather than solvent-welded, the connected fitting — whether a plug, nipple, valve, or gauge — can be removed, replaced, or inspected independently without cutting into the main run piping.

Schedule 80's thicker wall construction provides higher pressure ratings and stronger resistance to mechanical stress and chemical exposure than Schedule 40, making the 802-209 appropriate for demanding industrial, chemical, and process environments. Installation on the run ports follows standard solvent cement practice — clean, prime, and cement per ASTM D2564 procedures. For the 1/2" FPT branch, apply PTFE thread tape or a compatible PVC-rated thread sealant to the male threads of the mating fitting before assembly. Avoid petroleum-based pipe dopes, which can degrade PVC over time. Thread by hand first, then snug carefully with a strap wrench — over-tightening PVC female threads risks cracking the branch boss.
