The 802-131 is a Schedule 80 PVC reducing tee with 1-inch slip (socket) connections on both run ends and a 3/4-inch female pipe thread (FPT) outlet on the branch. The two 1" run-end sockets accept standard 1" Schedule 40 or Schedule 80 PVC pipe via solvent cement, maintaining a permanent, pressure-rated inline run, while the 3/4" FPT branch receives a 3/4" male-threaded fitting, valve, instrument, plug, or union tail. By combining a smaller-diameter threaded branch with a larger-diameter cemented run, the 802-131 eliminates the need for a separate downstream reducing bushing at the branch outlet — consolidating the run tee, branch connection, and size reduction into a single fitting and reducing overall joint count and assembly complexity.

The reducing branch configuration is well suited to installations where the main process line is 1" but the branch connection — a pressure gauge port, chemical injection tap, instrument connection, isolation valve, or small-bore service branch — requires only a 3/4" threaded interface. Installing a same-size 1" slip x slip x FPT tee and then adding a 3/4" reducing bushing in the branch is a common workaround, but the 802-131 accomplishes the same result with fewer fittings, fewer joints, and a more compact assembly. The mixed slip-run / FPT-branch configuration also preserves the core serviceability advantage of the 802 series — the cemented 1" run is permanent and undisturbed, while the 3/4" FPT branch can be broken and reassembled independently for valve replacement, instrument service, or system modification at any time.

Manufactured from heavy-wall Schedule 80 PVC, the 802-131 delivers greater wall thickness and mechanical strength than Schedule 40 equivalents, making it appropriate for industrial, chemical, and elevated-pressure service environments. The dark gray color is standard for Schedule 80 PVC. Apply a medium-bodied PVC primer and standard-bodied PVC cement per ASTM D2564 to both 1" run-end sockets; apply PTFE thread tape or an approved pipe thread sealant to any male-threaded fitting before engaging the 3/4" FPT branch. Do not overtighten threaded connections, as PVC threads can crack under excessive torque.

Industries & Applications:

  • Industrial Process Piping — Adds a serviceable 3/4" threaded branch takeoff to a permanent 1" Schedule 80 PVC process line for pressure gauges, chemical injection points, instrument taps, or isolation valves in a single compact reducing fitting, eliminating a separate downstream bushing in corrosion-resistant industrial systems.
  • Chemical Processing & Water Treatment — Used on 1" chemical feed lines, metering pump discharge runs, and treatment system headers where the cemented 1" run must remain intact but the branch connection requires a 3/4" threaded interface for dosing valve service, chemical injection, or instrument calibration access.
  • Municipal & Commercial Plumbing — Provides a reducing threaded branch port on permanent 1" Schedule 80 supply or service runs at 3/4" pressure monitoring points, isolation valve tie-ins, and meter connections in commercial and institutional plumbing systems where Schedule 80 construction and a reduced branch size are both specified.
  • Irrigation & Agricultural Systems — Installed on 1" Schedule 80 pump discharge or mainline piping at 3/4" pressure gauge ports, fertigation injector connections, and solenoid valve branches where the main run is permanent but the threaded branch device must be removable for seasonal service or replacement.
  • Pool & Spa Equipment Rooms — Adds a 3/4" threaded branch to 1" Schedule 80 chemical feed or recirculation piping for chlorinator inlets, pressure relief connections, chemical dosing ports, or auxiliary equipment tie-ins that require routine disconnection without disturbing the 1" cemented run.
  • Laboratory & Semiconductor Facilities — Provides a permanent 1" cemented run with a 3/4" threaded instrument or dispensing branch on Schedule 80 PVC ultrapure water, acid waste, or reagent distribution lines where branch-point serviceability and a compact reducing assembly are both design requirements.
