Compared to the previously described 802-422 (4" x 4" x 3" FPT branch), the 2-inch branch of this fitting represents a more pronounced size step-down — a configuration that narrows the branch's functional role toward lower-volume, more specialized applications. Where a 3-inch FPT branch might serve a secondary distribution lateral or a moderate-flow bypass, a 2-inch FPT branch is more characteristic of chemical injection points, instrumentation taps, small-bore drain connections, pressure gauge assemblies, sampling ports, and ancillary process feeds where the branch volume is intentionally subordinate to the primary 4-inch run.

The female NPT thread on the branch is the critical feature that distinguishes this fitting from an all-slip equivalent.
