The 4" x 3" PVC Schedule 80 Tee (Slip x Slip x FPT) is a mixed-connection reducing tee designed for industrial piping systems that require a branch takeoff at a different size and connection type than the main run. With 4-inch slip socket connections on both run ends and a 3-inch female NPT threaded connection on the branch outlet, this fitting serves a dual purpose — it reduces the branch diameter from the 4-inch main run and transitions from a permanent solvent-weld joint on the run to a threaded branch connection that can be assembled, disassembled, and serviced without cutting into the pipe.

The combination of slip run ends and a threaded branch is a practical and frequently specified configuration in industrial systems where the main conveyance line is permanent but the branch serves a function that benefits from removable access — instrumentation ports, chemical injection points, sample valves, drain connections, pressure gauge taps, or threaded valve assemblies that will eventually need replacement or adjustment. The threaded FPT branch accepts any standard 3-inch male NPT fitting, giving the system designer flexibility to connect gauges, valves, unions, or other threaded components directly without additional adapters.

Schedule 80 PVC provides the elevated wall thickness and pressure rating required in chemical processing, water treatment, and other demanding industrial environments. The thicker Schedule 80 wall is especially relevant at threaded connections, where the additional material provides greater thread engagement depth and reduces the risk of thread failure under pressure — a known limitation of threaded Schedule 40 fittings in high-stress applications.
