Union (O-Ring Type), FPT x FPT PVC Schedule 80 3/4" (898-007)

The 898-007 is a Schedule 80 PVC union with female pipe thread (FPT) connections on both ends and an EPDM o-ring face seal, sized for 3/4-inch threaded pipe. Both halves of the union body thread onto 3/4" male-threaded pipe or fittings, and the union nut draws the two faces together to compress the o-ring, creating a pressure-tight seal without relying on thread sealant at the union joint itself. When the line needs to be broken — for equipment removal, valve replacement, pump service, or system modification — simply unthread the union nut to separate the two halves cleanly, with no pipe cutting or joint destruction required.

The o-ring seal design offers a meaningful advantage over thread-seal union types in applications involving frequent disassembly or chemical service: the EPDM o-ring provides consistent, repeatable sealing across multiple open-and-close cycles, and can be replaced independently if the seal degrades over time. For installations handling fluids incompatible with EPDM, Viton o-ring substitutes are available for upgraded chemical resistance. Manufactured from heavy-wall Schedule 80 PVC, the 898-007 delivers greater wall thickness and mechanical strength than Schedule 40 equivalents, making it appropriate for industrial, chemical, and high-pressure threaded systems. The dark gray color is standard for Schedule 80 PVC and provides immediate visual differentiation from Schedule 40 white fittings in mixed installations. Apply PTFE thread tape or an approved pipe thread sealant to all male-threaded connections at both union tails; do not overtighten, as PVC threads can crack under excessive torque.
