The 897-015 is a 1-1/2" PVC Schedule 80 union with an O-ring seal and two slip (socket) ends, designed to create a permanent solvent-welded pipeline that can be broken apart and reassembled at the union joint without cutting pipe or disturbing upstream and downstream connections. Both slip ends accept standard 1-1/2" PVC pipe joined with solvent cement and primer per ASTM D2564, while the threaded union nut draws the two halves together against an EPDM or Viton O-ring that provides the primary pressure seal at the joint face.

Manufactured from rigid, dark gray PVC compound conforming to ASTM D1784 cell classification requirements, the Schedule 80 wall construction delivers higher pressure ratings and greater mechanical strength than Schedule 40 equivalents at the same pipe size.
